Relive Philippine history, as we look at the life of Jessie Josephine Coe Lichauco, an American woman who, at 18, travelled by herself all the way from the United States to the Philippines. She was born on 10 January, 1912, and married Marcial Lichauco, a diplomat, at the Sto. Tomas chapel, the same place where my parents were also married. From the American era, to the Japanese occupation, to the present time, Jessie had lived through happiness and suffering. Now at 104 years old, she devotes her life to helping others, especially abandoned and abused children.
