SINAG MAYNILA : `NINJA PARTY' GALA NIGHT - 21 MAR 2015

`NINJA PARTY' GALA NIGHT

Ninja Party is the entry of Jim Libiran to the newly established independent film festival called Sinag Maynila.

Conceptualized and helmed by CEO and founder Wilson Tieng together with Brillante Mendoza, Sinag Maynila aims to feature films that reflect Filipino culture while presenting social issues deserving of discussion among audiences here and abroad.

Ninja Party revolves around top female students of an elite Catholic-run high school who discover their identities and sexualities amidst clashing values. Conflicts with their families and their school force them to grow up and grow in friendship. They face slutshaming when a rumor spreads about their participation in a secret orgy.

Synopsis from Sinag Maynila: Top female students of an elite Catholic high school discover their identities and sexualities amidst clashing values. Conflicts between themselves, their families and their school forces them to grow up and grow in friendship. They face slut-shaming when a rumor spreads about their participation in a secret orgy.
Why you should watch: It is no longer a secret that Jim Libiran once wrote a very popular sex column under an alias. His two previous films, Tribu (2007) and Happyland (2010), do not seem to reflect the very libidinous style Libiran injected into his published works.
Ninja Party, however, is alien territory. First, it is about privileged teenagers. Second, it centers on secret activities that verge on the territory of being urban legends. This is a topic that begs for the very same sensuality that Libiran is so gifted in conjuring. Any social realization from the film is just the cherry on top.
