The film explores the varying degrees, forms and issues of surveillance (the feeling of being policed) which are the heart of the relationship and conflict of a schizophrenia patient and caregiver, especially during the treatment phase.
If there is one movie you should not miss at the MMFF New Wave Section, it's `Mga Anino Ng Kahapon'. Not just because it tackles schizophrenia in a truthful manner without the victim going the hysterical route, but also for the sterling performances of its lead actors, Agot Isidro and TJ Trinidad. That's what I find exciting about indie films. Our pinoy thespians are given opportunities to sink their teeth into challenging roles, testing their mettle. Agot and TJ deliver with potential award-winning portrayals as the couple engaged in a battle to defeat the debilitating effects a mental disorder. Even Carlo Cruz, who plays Ed's brother Carlo, has a sizeable and significant role, and appears to be on his way to establishing himself as a serious player in the industry.
`Mga Anino Ng Kahapon' has been Rated `A' by the Cinema Evaluation Board
